Adopt resolutions authorizing:
A) The acceptance of cash donations in the amount of $27,212 and $10,000 in noncash in-kind donations for FY 2017-2018 from the San Mateo County Parks Foundation; and
B) An Appropriation Transfer Request (ATR) in the amount of $26,012 from unanticipated revenue to corresponding appropriations in services and supplies.

BACKGROUND:
The San Mateo County Parks and Recreation Foundation (Foundation) raises funds and provides in-kind services for various improvements and programs in County Parks. As in the prior fiscal year, the Department proposes to bring these donations to the Board of Supervisors two to three times per year.
DISCUSSION:
For FY 2017-18, the Foundation is providing $27,212 in cash donations and $10,000 in noncash in-kind donations to the Parks Department. The ATR is for $26,012 with funds dedicated to various budget units. The Volunteer Trust Fund will receive $1,200 for the Take a Hike sponsorship as the funds will not be spent in FY 2017-18.

The San Mateo County Parks Foundation is also making the following noncash in-kind donations to San Mateo County Parks:
San Mateo Thornmint restoration at Edgewood Park & Natural Preserve: $5,000
OpenRoad Season 4 sponsorship: $5,000

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the resolution and appropriation transfer request as to form.
Acceptance of the Foundation’s donations and in-kind services contributes to the Shared Vision 2025 outcome of an Environmentally Conscious Community by providing financial and in-kind support for youth internships, volunteers for parks and volunteer program development, stewardship corps, important maintenance and restoration projects, and improvements to park facilities.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The amount of donations to be received from the Foundation for any fiscal year is not known at the time the budget is prepared. An ATR is being requested to recognize the unanticipated revenue of $26,012 and to make corresponding appropriations in services and supplies. The cash donation for the Take a Hike sponsorship in the amount of $1,200 will be deposited in the Volunteer Trust Fund for future use.
There is no additional fiscal impact on Net County Cost.
