body
BACKGROUND:
Since 1998, the Human Services Agency (HSA), City of Redwood City (CRWC), and the Redwood City School District (RWCSD), have each contributed financial support to the Redwood City Community Schools (RWCCS). RWCCS are school-based interagency family resource centers that provide educational support and community development activities to approximately 4,240 children and families through daily expanded learning opportunities, counseling support, family engagement opportunities, and a wide range of safety net services. These services promote healthy families, increase developmental assets for children, and improve parent involvement in leadership activities. The Community Schools are Fair Oaks, Garfield, Hawes, Hoover, Kennedy, Selby Lane, and TAFT.

DISCUSSION:
This Agreement was recently submitted to the County by RWCSD to provide funds for operational costs to the RWCSD. CRWC will have a separate Agreement with RWCSD for their contribution. RWCSD will contribute $195,000 and HSA will contribute $227,352 for FY 2017-19. RWCSD is committed to providing community wide access to programs and services that contribute to improving family functioning and children's well-being. The family resource centers are staffed primarily by out-posted employees of partner agencies who provide specialized support in their area of expertise in addition to the on-site Redwood City School District coordinators and support staff.

County Counsel has approved the agreement and the resolution as to form.
