BACKGROUND:
Since July 2014, Dr. Bradd Silver has provided endocrinology services for the patients of San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC). Dr. Silver is one of two endocrinologists at SMMC.

DISCUSSION:
Dr. Silver would like to continue serving the patients of SMMC on a part-time basis, providing endocrinology services three full days per week, in addition to providing half time call services. He is experienced with SMMC's patient population and has provided excellent services to SMMC's diabetic and thyroid patients.

County Administrative Memorandum B-1 provides that contracts for physicians are exempt from the Request for Proposals process.

The agreement and resolution have been reviewed and approved by County Counsel as to form.

The resolution contains the County's standard provisions allowing amendment of the County fiscal obligations by a maximum of $25,000 (in aggregate).

The agreement contributes to the Shared Vision 2025 outcome of a Healthy Community by providing endocrinology services to County residents. It is anticipated that patient waiting times for endocrinology services will be less than or equal to two weeks.
