BACKGROUND:
The Information Services Department (ISD) supports critical cooling and power systems for 113 locations throughout the County. These systems include Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Direct Current (DC) inverters and batteries, and generator power systems. The support for each of these systems has historically been provided by multiple vendors. On May 15, 2017, in light of the complexity and changing scope of computing and communications needs ISD issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) in order to facilitate the selection of one vendor to provide critical cooling and power systems maintenance and on-going support for the next three years.

DISCUSSION:
This agreement will allow the County to minimize its support expenses while maintaining its current high performance standards. The County's goal to contract with one vendor for its critical cooling and power systems support will reduce maintenance issues and costs associated with equipment failure by performing preventative upkeep. This will result in more streamlined vendor communications that will in turn allow the County to react more quickly to any power or cooling failure.

The selected vendor has extensive experience in delivering services of a similar scope and type and has local availability of personnel and resources.
