BACKGROUND:
The County of San Mateo's Information Services Department leases and operates a communication facility at 440 Pigeon Point Road in Pescadero (Pigeon Point Communication Facility"). The facility contains approximately 500 square feet of land and is improved with a radio antenna tower. The lease authorizes the County to sublease space to other agencies in order to offset operational costs, which total $3,330 per month. The County of San Mateo currently generates $2,776.36 per month from permit agreements with the California Highway Patrol and AT&T. In order to enhance communication capabilities, the County of Santa Cruz desires to install their Sheriff's Office communication equipment at the Pigeon Point Communication Facility.

DISCUSSION:
Real Property Services has negotiated a Permit Agreement, under which the County of Santa Cruz will pay to the County of San Mateo an initial monthly fee of $1,275.80, which will increase three percent annually. The permit is for an initial term of five years with an option to extend for an additional five years.
