Recommendation for the appointment of Clancy Si France, MD, MBA to the San Mateo Health Commission, representing the business community, for a term ending January 1, 2021.

BACKGROUND:

The San Mateo Health Commission negotiates exclusive contracts with the California Department of Health Care Services to arrange for the provision of health care services to qualifying individuals.

 

DISCUSSION:

Si France is a mission driven physician entrepreneur who resides in Menlo Park.  He is the founder and CEO of Welbe Health, a firm with the goal of helping frail and vulnerable seniors.  He was also the founder and CEO of GoHealth, which operates more than 40 urgent care centers in collaboration with leading health systems across the country, delivering best-in-class quality and patient experience.  Prior to that, Dr. France worked for McKinsey & Company, advising major health systems in the U.S. and internationally on long-term strategy, financial sustainability, business model innovation, and operational improvement.  Dr. France serves as the Board Chair of Groups, which has developed a cross-county network of group-based opiate addiction services in underserved rural communities. 

 

This appointment contributes to the 2025 Shared Vision statement of a Collaborative Community. Our diverse population works well together to build strong communities, effective government and a prosperous economy, civic engagement - including voting, public service, charitable giving, volunteerism, and participation in public discussions of important issues - is uniformly high among the diverse population of San Mateo County.
