BACKGROUND:
On July 21, 2015, the Board approved Resolution No. 073935, for an agreement with the Student Conservation Association (SCA) for $130,000 for the Geographic Information System Program. On June 28, 2016, the Board approved an amendment to the agreement with the SCA to increase the amount by an additional $130,000 and extend the term through June 30, 2017. Under the existing agreement with SCA for the GIS Program work, the Senior GIS Intern created work plans, trained and oversaw two GIS Crews, and prepared maps, presentations and trainings for County Parks' Natural Resource Management program as well as for other planning projects. Key projects included a fuel reduction prioritization analysis, San Bruno Mountain trail analysis, natural resource reference maps and databases. The GIS Crew Members were trained to use the iPad ARC-GIS Collector App and inventory protocols. The GIS crews inventoried 14 trailheads, 200 trail signs, 870 drainage points, 71 intersections, 300 trail maintenance needs, and 13 vegetation restoration sites, hiking a total of 55 miles in five separate parks. The Crews also made a presentation to the Parks and Recreation Commission.
