BACKGROUND:
The Health System has a number of contracts for services that will expire on or before June 30, 2017 and the renegotiation of these contracts is pending completion. These contracts, listed in the exhibit to the Resolution, will be submitted as new agreements or as amendments extending existing agreements by the end of September 2017.

DISCUSSION:
To ensure continued provision of the contracted services during the interim period between July 1, 2017 and September 30, 2017, staff requests that the Board of Supervisors authorize the Controller to continue making payments under these contracts at the existing rates through September 30, 2017. This Resolution allows payments to contractors who provide necessary services in a timely fashion and will allow the Health System the time needed to complete negotiations for new contracts. For all agreements subject to this Resolution, all the terms and conditions of each agreement shall remain in effect during the term of the continuing resolution.

The contracts included in the Resolution from Behavioral Health and Recovery Services typically include a monthly advanced payment for the fixed flat rate of the portion of the provider's contract that is paid out in one-twelfth increments. Inclusion on this Resolution authorizes the Controller to make these regular monthly payments beyond June 30, 2017. We expect to bring most of these contracts to your Board in July 2017.
