Adopt a resolution authorizing the District Attorney to act as an Authorized Agent to submit grant applications and execute similar agreements with the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) for Cal OES Programs.

BACKGROUND:

The County has received funding for various Cal OES Programs since 2010. The Cal OES requires the County Board of Supervisors to grant authority to the District Attorney to enter the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office into a specific Grant Subaward for Cal OES Programs.

 

DISCUSSION:

In the interests of efficiency, the Office of the District Attorney is requesting that the Board authorize the District Attorney to apply for, execute similar agreements and accept grant monies from Cal OES Programs.

 

County Attorney has reviewed and approved the resolution as to form.

 

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

Approval of this resolution will allow the District Attorney’s Office to submit grant applications and execute similar agreements that support the continuation of the services, to include but not limited to, providing critical advocacy, information, and support services to victims of crime in our community. These services are essential in promoting justice, healing, and safety.

 

By investing in these programs, the County affirms its commitment to equity and public safety, and to uplifting those most impacted by violence, exploitation, and systemic disparities in access to justice.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no Net County Cost associated with this action. Any required match or in-kind contribution will be met through existing resources and staff allocations.
