BACKGROUND:
The San Mateo County Event Center ("Event Center"), located in the City of San Mateo, serves as an emergency evacuation center for San Mateo County residents, hosts conferences and conventions, and is the site of the San Mateo County Fair. The Event Center is managed by a non-profit organization, the San Mateo County Exposition and Fair Association ("Association"), whose Directors are appointed by the Board of Supervisors.

The Association's Board of Directors ("Board of Directors") consists of 11 Directors, all of whom must be residents of San Mateo County. Directors are each allowed to serve up to four three-year terms.

DISCUSSION:
James Tucker and Steven Wong each began serving on the Board of Directors in 2018 and are seeking a third term effective October 1, 2024 through September 30, 2027.

Steven Wong has served on the Facilities, Finance, and Executive Committees of the Board of Directors. He has served as Secretary-Treasurer and Vice-President, and now serves as President of the Board of Directors. He is a management consultant focused on epidemiology and forecasting for the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries and has worked in the entertainment industry planning events.

James Tucker has served as the Chair of the Facilities Committee since 2018. He is a licensed contractor and engineer and served as a Juvenile Probation Officer for the City and County of San Francisco. His community service includes serving as the Mayor and Councilmemb...
