Adopt a resolution authorizing an agreement with Sanjay Bindra, MD to provide cardiology services for the term of January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020 in an amount not to exceed $570,000.

BACKGROUND:
San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) has a continuing need for contracted medical staff to provide cardiology medical services.
DISCUSSION:
Dr. Bindra will assume the clinic duties that include the provision of cardiology services, in addition to providing on-call coverage.
County Administrative Memorandum B-1 provides that contracts for physicians are exempt from the Request for Proposals process.
The agreement and resolution have been reviewed and approved by County Counsel as to form.
It is anticipated that wait times for all cardiac studies will decrease by 50%.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The term of the agreement is January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020. The amount of the agreement is not to exceed $570,000 for the one-year term. Funds in the amount of $285,000 are included in the SMMC FY 2019-20 Adopted Budget. Funds in the amount of $285,000 will be included in the SMMC FY 2020-21 Recommended Budget.
The payment provisions of the agreement are based on the 2018 rates published by the Medical Group Management Association, which SMMC uses to benchmark its physician contract compensation.
