Recommendation to approve the reappointment of Captain Paul Kunkel to the Emergency Medical Care Committee as the representative of the San Mateo County Police Chief’s Association, for a first full term ending March 31, 2024.

BACKGROUND:
The Emergency Medical Care Committee (EMCC) is responsible for reviewing and reporting its observations and recommendations to the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors and local Emergency Medical Services Agency (EMS Agency) regarding the emergency medical services system. The Committee monitors and presents recommendations to improve emergency medical care in San Mateo County.
The EMCC consists of 20 members appointed by the Board, for terms of four years, for up to three consecutive terms. Among the EMCC’s 20 members, it must have, among other requirements: one (1) representative of the San Mateo County Police Chief's Association.
DISCUSSION:
The EMS Agency supports the reappointment of Captain Kunkel who has served on the committee as the San Mateo County Police Chief's representative since 2019, fulfilling the remaining term for Chief Arthur Stellini (retired).
Captain Kunkel serves as the Chief of Police Services for the Millbrae Police Bureau of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and is a former Director of the San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services.
