Adopt a resolution authorizing an amendment to the agreement with the RS Express to provide warehousing services for emergency medical equipment stockpile and Strategic National Stockpile from the Centers of Disease Control, increasing the amount by $70,000 to an amount not to exceed $370,000.

BACKGROUND:
Federal funds have been made available through the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) to enhance the nation's public health emergency preparedness and response infrastructure. San Mateo County Health System (Health System) uses a portion of these funds to lease warehouse space for storage of emergency medical equipment and function as the primary location to receive Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) assets for disaster response and mitigation. The Health System maintains this emergency medical stockpile in part to serve hospitals with a closely located source of emergency material.
On November 18, 2014, your Board approved an agreement with RS Express to provide warehousing services for this purpose.
DISCUSSION:
Due to the variable nature of the non-lease portion of services, the cost of services through the remaining term of the agreement is projected to exceed the original contract amount. As a result, it is now necessary to amend the agreement to increase the contract amount by $70,000 to an amount not to exceed $370,000, to cover the projected costs through the term of the original agreement. This amendment will allow the Health System the time needed to complete a Request for Proposal for a future contract.
