Subject: Amendment to the Agreement with Royal Ambulance, Inc. to Provide Non-Emergent Patient Transport Services
RECOMMENDATION:
title
Adopt a resolution authorizing an amendment to the agreement with Royal Ambulance, Inc. expanding services to Aging and Adult Services and Behavioral Health and Recovery Services and increasing the maximum amount payable by $250,000, to an amount not to exceed $450,000.
body
BACKGROUND:
In August 2021, San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) completed Request for Proposals for non-emergent patient transport services. Royal Ambulance, Inc. (Royal) was chosen due to their cost and vast variety of special services offered. On September 20, 2021, the parties entered into an agreement for the term of November 1, 2021, through October 31, 2024, in an amount not to exceed $200,000.
DISCUSSION:
Aging and Adult Services (AAS) and Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) recently expressed interest in acquiring similar services as SMMC for patients that require ambulance transport due to their tethered medical equipment. By consolidating transport services under one agreement, Royal has agreed to provide the same level of service to all three Health divisions at the same payment rate.
County Attorney has reviewed and approved the resolution and amendment as to form.
The resolution contains the County's standard provisions allowing amendment of the County fiscal obligations by a maximum of $25,000 (in aggregate).
It is anticipated that 100% of pre-scheduled transports shall arrive within 15 minutes of scheduled pickup time.
