Adopt a resolution establishing "No Parking" zones on the easterly side of Obispo Road commencing at a point 55 feet northerly of the Obispo Road and Coronado Street intersection and extending northerly a distance of 50 feet, more or less, and commencing at a point 190 feet northerly of the Obispo Road and Coronado Street intersection and extending northerly a distance of 270 feet, more or less.

BACKGROUND:
This Board has adopted similar resolutions regarding parking restrictions.
Section 22507, et seq., of the California Vehicle Code and Section 7.30.010, of the San Mateo County Ordinance Code provides that local authorities may prohibit or restrict the stopping, parking, or standing of vehicles by resolution or ordinance.
DISCUSSION:
The Coastside Fire Protection District (Coastside Fire) seeks to restrict parking along Obispo Road at Coronado Street adjacent to their Fire Station #41. The parking restriction would improve the clearance for emergency vehicles on Obispo Road to access Highway 1.
The Department of Public Works (Department) conducted a field investigation and determined that vehicles can block or restrict access for emergency vehicles when parked on the east side of Obispo Road between the Fire Station #41's southern-most driveway and Coronado Street. The Department recommends a "No Parking" zone on the east side of Obispo Road as shown on Exhibit A to provide adequate clearance for emergency vehicles including those accessing Highway 1. The Department notified 53 property owners within 300 feet of the proposed parking restriction of the date and time of the Board meeting to consider this item.
