BACKGROUND:
The Sheriff's Office has provided contract law enforcement services to the City of San Carlos for approximately fifteen years. Contracting with the Sheriff's Office has proved to be both a cost effective and efficient option for the City; and City management has expressed their desire to continue contracting with the County for these services. The current contract is set to expire on June 30, 2025.

DISCUSSION:
City management has expressed their desire to continue contracting with the County for the provision of law enforcement services and enter into a new five-year agreement beginning July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2030.

As with the previous agreement, services include: basic police patrol, traffic enforcement, crime investigations, and crime prevention services. Direct and indirect costs associated with delivering these services are also included. On an annual basis during the term of the contract, the Sheriff's Office will meet with the City of San Carlos to evaluate the contract and determine if there are any amendments necessary to address a change in costs, fees or services.

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the resolution and agreement as to form.
