BACKGROUND:
This Board has adopted similar resolutions regarding parking restrictions.
Section 22507, et seq., of the California Vehicle Code and Section 7.44.010 of the San Mateo County (County) Ordinance Code provide that local authorities may determine and declare disabled (ADA) parking zone locations by resolution.
DISCUSSION:
The Department of Public Works (Department) received a request from the property owner at 692 Second Avenue, in the North Fair Oaks area, to establish an ADA parking zone adjacent to this property to facilitate parking.
The Department evaluated this request and has determined that the requested parking restriction will not adversely affect the community. The Department notified the adjacent property owners of the ADA parking request and received no comments relative to the proposed ADA parking zone. The Department recommends adoption of the 20-foot ADA Disabled Parking Zone restriction at the identified location, which is shown on Exhibit A.
The locations of parking zones and other traffic restrictions on County maintained streets are currently shown on maps in the Department's office and website. The Department's master list of parking restrictions will be updated to reflect the recommended changes, should this Board approve the proposed resolution.
The County Attorney has reviewed and approved the resolution as to form.
