Recommendation for reappointments to the Commission on the Status of Women, each for a term ending December 31, 2029:
A) Dayna Chung for a first full term; and
B) Aileen Cassinetto, for a second term.

BACKGROUND:
The Commission is charged with the responsibility of assessing the needs of women, girls and families in the County. It acts as a resource and makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors annually.
DISCUSSION:
Dayna Chung’s initial appointment on the Commission began as a partial term in May 2023, and Aileen Cassinetto began serving her first full term in 2021. Upon approval of these reappointments, Dayna Chung will be reappointed for a first full 4-year term, and Aileen Cassinetto will be serving her second term. These 4-year terms are effective January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2029.
Dayna Chung resides in Menlo Park with her husband and three children. She is the Co-founder and Executive Director of Community Equity Collaborative, a nonprofit that advocates for equity in education. She has advocated for affordable child care and has helped to support the San Mateo County Child Care Blueprint Initiative through Community Equity Collaborative.
Aileen lives in the City of San Mateo with her family. She is active in bringing awareness to the community regarding poetry and spoken artistry. Aileen is the founder of the independent literary press, Paloma Press, and she is the author of two poetry collections and three chapbooks. She is co-editor of the climate change anthology, Dear Human at the Edge of Time: Poems on Climate Change in the United States, and co-editor of The Nature of Our Times, a Poets for Science anthology.
