Adopt a resolution authorizing an amendment to the agreement with the County of San Mateo Transit District ("District") exercising the option to extend the agreement by one five-year term and receive law enforcement services from the Sheriff's Office, from July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2030, with reimbursement to the County for FY 2025-26 in the amount of $9,633,203 and revised calculated rates effective July 1 of each year of the term.

BACKGROUND:
The Sheriff's Office has provided contract law enforcement services to the District for approximately five years. Contracting with the Sheriff's Office has proven to be a cost-effective and efficient option for the District. The most recent contract between the County and the District expired on June 30, 2025. The District now wishes to exercise the option written into the contract to extend the agreement for an additional five-year term, until June 30, 2030.
DISCUSSION:
Services under the agreement include basic police patrol, traffic enforcement, crime investigations, and crime prevention services. Direct and indirect costs associated with delivering these services are included. On an annual basis during the term of the agreement, the Sheriff's Office will meet with the District to evaluate the contract and determine if there are any amendments necessary to address changes in costs, fees, or services.
The County Attorney has reviewed and approved the resolution and agreement as to form.
