BACKGROUND:
San Mateo County is responsible for providing necessary medical care to its medically indigent population. This includes services for cardiology disorders and the management and supervision of those services. The County's need for cardiology services is increasing due to the aging of its patient population.

DISCUSSION:
Dr. Shreibati has worked as a non-invasive cardiologist at San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) since at least 2016. She provides cardiology services that include 4-hour clinic blocks, inpatient cardiology consultations, and reading services including electrocardiograms, "stress echoes", "stress tests", and Holter monitors. Dr. Shreibati also provides on-call coverage.

To provide scheduling flexibility and to improve cardiology services provided to patients, SMMC is recommending amending Dr. Shreibati's agreement to further expand her cardiology services to provide an additional 96 hours of supplemental clinical services annually, in addition to her 268 annual hours of clinic coverage. There is no proposed change in the amount of on-call services that will be provided.

Dr. Shreibati's supplemental services would take the form of extending her existing clinic hours to ensure efficiency of clinic operations and to maximize the number of patients that a physician can evaluate, treat, order medications, order ...
