BACKGROUND:
The Agricultural Advisory Committee actively assists in the preservation of agriculture throughout San Mateo County through advice and recommendation to the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors.
DISCUSSION:
John Vars was initially appointed to the Agricultural Advisory Committee in January 2017 for a term ending June 30, 2020. Upon approval of this reappointment, John will serve for a first full term ending June 30, 2024.
John is the owner and operator of Fifth Crow Farm, which is a diversified organic operation based in the Cloverdale Valley, south of Pescadero. Fifth Crow Farm has served a number of local markets for over a decade. John values his role on the committee in advising on issues where development and farmland preservation intersect.
