BACKGROUND:
During Our Year of Working Together to End Homelessness, the County held three virtual events in April, May, and June 2022. On October 28, 2022, the County hosted the Summit, an in-person culminating event focusing on using information learned at the three virtual events to develop a plan and path forward for achieving functional zero homelessness based on data, lessons learned, and documented successes.
The Summit brought together nearly 300 leaders and stakeholders from across San Mateo County, providing attendees an opportunity to collaborate through tabletop discussions on the topics of economic insecurity, housing insecurity, and overall health and addiction challenges, all contributing factors in people experiencing homelessness, and to offer insight on ways to achieve zero functional homelessness. The intention was to generate ideas and feedback that could be incorporated into the County's 2023 Action Plan to end homelessness.
