RECOMMENDATION:

Adopt a resolution:
A) Adopting plans and specifications, including conformance with prevailing wage scale requirements, for the Ticonderoga Drive Retaining Wall Improvement Project in the unincorporated area of San Mateo Highlands; and
B) Authorizing the Director of Public Works to call for sealed proposals to be received by Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 2:30 p.m., in the office of the County Executive Officer/Clerk of the Board of Supervisors; and
C) Authorizing the Director of Public Works to extend the call for bids and bid opening up to sixty (60) calendar days beyond the time and date originally set forth by the Board of Supervisors.

BACKGROUND:
The Department of Public Works completed the Ticonderoga Drive Slide Repair Project in 1985, which included construction of a retaining wall on a portion of Ticonderoga Drive in the San Mateo Highlands area. This retaining wall was built to stabilize the slope and protect Ticonderoga Drive following a significant landslide event.
DISCUSSION:
The retaining wall was constructed 40 years ago, the structure is nearing the end of its useful life, and is showing signs of significant deterioration. Given the age and condition of the retaining wall, improvements are necessary to ensure the continued stability of both the wall and the adjacent roadway.
The Ticonderoga Drive Retaining Wall Improvement Project (Project) includes constructing new piles behind the existing 210 foot long retaining wall for additional support and stabilization.
