BACKGROUND:
The Quarry Park Fire Road Extension Project (Project) is located at Quarry Park (Park), in the unincorporated area of El Granada. The Park currently has one main fire road to the facilities and trails within the 517-acre park which limits the ability of first responders to access the Park to conduct fire suppression and containment activities to slow the spread of a fire within the Park. The Project will extend the existing fire road to improve wildfire resiliency and create a second point of ingress and egress for first responders.

DISCUSSION:
The Parks Department retained Pacific Watershed Associates, Inc. to develop the plans and specifications for this Project to be competitively bid. This Project will construct a new fire road to provide alternative access routes through the Park for emergency equipment and personnel in the event of a wildfire or other emergency efforts and the fire road can be used as a recreational trail by the public.
