BACKGROUND:
The first phase of construction of the new Cordilleras Health Campus, a landmark investment in community wellness, is now largely complete, with clients and programs occupying the new facilities. The project scope included four 16-bed Mental Health Rehabilitation Centers (MHRCs), a 57-resident Co-Housing Unit, a central Campus Center, and extensive site improvements, including a 318,000-gallon supplemental water tank for fire resiliency.

The project design and execution have been guided by this Board's core values, focusing on wellness, respect, community, and healing through nature. Consistent with the County's commitment to sustainability, the campus is designed to operate at Zero Net Energy and will achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.

Successful completion of this project required navigating a highly complex regulatory environment with the requirement to coordinate with many agencies, including the Regional Water Quality Control Board, United States Department of Fish and Wildlife, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, United States Army Corps of Engineers, Bay Area Air Quality Management District, San Mateo County Department of Planning and Building, CalFire, the local sanitation district, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, and the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS).
