Adopt a resolution authorizing the establishment of a "No Oversized Vehicle Parking" zone on both sides of Capistrano Road in the unincorporated Half Moon Bay area commencing at a point 120 feet southerly of the centerline of Highway 1 and extending southerly a distance of 1,630 feet, more or less.

BACKGROUND:
Section 22507, et seq., of the California Vehicle Code and Section 7.28.070, of the San Mateo County Ordinance Code provide that local authorities may prohibit or restrict the stopping, parking, or standing of vehicles by resolution or ordinance, including, but not limited to, vehicles that are six feet or more in height, or any trailer, on certain streets or highways, or portions thereof, during all or certain hours of the day.
This Board has, pursuant to these authorities, adopted similar resolutions setting parking restrictions.
DISCUSSION:
The Department of Public Works (Department) has been reviewing parking restrictions along Capistrano Road in the unincorporated Half Moon Bay area due to an increase in on-street oversized vehicle parking on this road.
Parking is generally allowed on Capistrano Road. Therefore, vehicles frequently park or stop on the side of the street in the unpaved shoulder of the road and occasionally encroach into the paved roadway area. To maintain adequate clearance of the travel lane and visibility, the Department recommends establishing a "No Oversized Vehicle Parking" zone along both sides of Capistrano Road in the unincorporated Half Moon Bay area commencing at a point 120 feet southerly of the centerline of Highway 1 and extending southerly a distance of 1,630 feet, more or less.
