Recommendation to:
A) Accept the Annual Report of the Commission on Aging; and
B) Acting as the Governing Board of the Area Agency on Aging for the County of San Mateo, adopt a resolution authorizing:
1. The approval and submission of the Fiscal Year 2025-26 Area Plan update for Services for Older Adults and Adults with Disabilities to the California Department of Aging; and
2. The execution of the Transmittal Letter to the California Department of Aging required to complete the submission process.

BACKGROUND:
The State requires each Area Agency on Aging (AAA) - including the AAA of San Mateo County - to submit an Area Plan every four years. The development of the Area Plan includes the use of County data collected through a vendor secured by the California Department on Aging (CDA). The Area Plan is also supplemented with two additional surveys: the 2023 Community Health Needs Assessment compiled by the San Mateo County Health Office of Epidemiology and Evaluation and The Long-Term Care Survey conducted in December 2023 by Ombudsman Services of San Mateo County.
Once an Area Plan is created, it requires submission to CDA after the County's Governing Board and the Commission on Aging (CoA) have had the opportunity to participate in the planning process and to review the Area Plan.
On May 7, 2024, this Board approved the San Mateo County AAA's Area Plan for FY 2024-2028.
