Adopt a resolution authorizing an agreement with the Town of Portola Valley to receive law enforcement services from the Sheriff's Office, for a term commencing July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2030 with reimbursement to the County for FY 2026-27 in the amount of $2,536,757 and revised calculated rates effective July 1 of each year of the term.

BACKGROUND:
The Sheriff's Office has provided contract law enforcement services to the Town of Portola Valley ("Town") for approximately 23 years. Contracting with the Sheriff's Office has proven to be a cost-effective and efficient option for the Town. The most recent contract between the County and the Town expires on June 30, 2026.
The Town now wishes to continue contracting with the County for these services through June 30, 2030.
DISCUSSION:
The proposed agreement with the Town includes a term of July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2030, with reimbursement to the County for FY 2026-27 in the amount of $2,536,757 ("Agreement"). Services under the Agreement include basic police patrol, traffic enforcement, crime investigations, and crime prevention services. Direct and indirect costs associated with delivering these services are included. On an annual basis during the term of the Agreement, the Sheriff's Office will meet with the Town to evaluate the contract and determine if there are any amendments necessary to address changes in costs, fees, or services.
The County Attorney has reviewed and approved the resolution and agreement as to form.
