BACKGROUND:
The San Mateo Resource Conservation District (RCD) is a special district within San Mateo County that provides comprehensive and integrated resource conservation services related to wildlife, water, climate, agriculture, and wildfire. The RCD is uniquely positioned to take on a variety of resource conservation work that supports the community and environment in their service territory, which is predominantly along the Pacific Ocean coast of the county. The RCD has demonstrated success as a resource conservation organization and in its effectiveness in supporting the community and collaborating with community partners, County departments, and State and Federal agencies.

The RCD has an existing agreement for resource conservation services with the Sustainability Department (Sustainability), approved under the Sustainability Director's signing authority on January 23, 2023, for an amount not to exceed $200,000 and a term of January 23, 2023, to June 30, 2023. On September 12, 2023, this Board amended the agreement to increase the amount by $200,000 for a new not to exceed total of $400,000 and extend the term by one year to June 30, 2024 (Resolution No. 079913).
