BACKGROUND:
Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) has contracted with GHC of Contra Costa, LLC dba Bayberry Skilled Nursing and Healthcare Center (Bayberry) since December 1, 2023, for residential care facilities in Contra Costa County to provide beds for BHRS clients who need locked Specialized Treatment Programs (STPs). STPs have augmented services that provide a higher level of care, supervision, and intensive programming, which address behavioral health issues that impact step down to unlocked community placements. These services include supplemental intensive mental health services, skilled nursing, psychiatric services, rehabilitation treatment, social skills training, and assistance with daily living activities.

DISCUSSION:
Under this agreement, Bayberry shall continue to provide beds for difficult-to-place clients and augmented services for adults with a severe mental illness who require a higher level of care and supervision. These services include supplemental intensive mental health services, social skills training, and assistance with daily living activities. This agreement will provide up to a maximum of two beds per month.

The resolution contains the County's standard provisions allowing amendment of the County's fiscal obligation by a maximum of $25,000 (in aggregate).
