BACKGROUND:
Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) has contracted with the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center (PCRC) for alcohol and other drug (AOD) prevention services since July 2008. These services include community capacity building, community education and awareness, and environmental prevention efforts in the City of San Mateo, Burlingame, Hillsborough, Foster City, and Belmont regions.

In July 2016, the Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention Unit (renamed to Community Health Promotion Unit) of Family Health Services merged with BHRS. As a result of this merger, BHRS created a community assessment and strategic planning process to better utilize funding through coordinated plans and enhance prevention outcomes through a community-based partnership.

In December 2021, this Board approved an agreement with PCRC for alcohol and other drug prevention services, community capacity building, parent project classes, and mental health first aid, in the amount of $238,563, for the term of July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2022.
