BACKGROUND:
The Sheriff's Office has provided contract law enforcement services to the San Mateo County Transit District ("District") for approximately five years. Contracting with the Sheriff's Office has proven to be a cost-effective and efficient option for the District.

The most recent agreement between the County and the District-which had an initial term of July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2025, though the parties have continued since June 30, 2025 to perform and have mutually desired for the agreement to remain in effect while the parties negotiated revisions to the agreement-provides that the parties have the right to exercise an option extending the agreement for five years through June 30, 2030 ("Agreement").

DISCUSSION:
The County and the District desire to reinstate the Agreement, exercise the option extending the term of the Agreement for an additional five-year term, until June 30, 2030, and make other changes to the Agreement, effective as of July 1, 2025 ("Reinstatement and Amendment").
