Adopt a resolution authorizing an amendment to Master Salary Resolution 081981 to delete two positions, add two positions, set the salary range for one new extra-help classification, and add new allowances to Section 5 - Special Compensation.

BACKGROUND:
On June 16, 2026, this Board adopted Master Salary Resolution 081981, which specifies the number of and provides compensation and benefits for persons employed by the County of San Mateo, sets appropriate rules and regulations, and repeals all inconsistent ordinances and resolutions. Throughout the year, the salary resolution is amended from time to time to meet the needs of the County.
DISCUSSION:
The salary resolution changes herein represent the:
deletion of two positions;
addition of two positions;
setting of the salary range for one new classification; and
addition of new allowances to Section 5 - Special Compensation.
These amendments to the resolution have been reviewed and approved by the County Attorney’s Office as to form. The specific actions are discussed in detail below.

Action: Add to Section 5 of the Master Salary Resolution a (A) Career Incentive Allowance; and (B) Uniform Allowance for one extra-help Undersheriff.
Explanation: These amendments to Section 5 of the Master Salary Resolution extend to one extra-help Undersheriff the special compensation provisions set forth in Section 22 of Management Resolution 080702, Special Compensation—Sheriff’s Office: Career Incentive Allowance and Uniform Allowance. The Career Incentive Allowance would provide the extra-help Undersheriff with a 7.5% allowance, in addition to all other compensation, for possessing an Advanced Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certificate.
