BACKGROUND:
San Mateo County is responsible for providing necessary medical care to its medically indigent population. Since 2005, Dr. Jegge has provided general surgery services at San Mateo Medical Center ("SMMC"). On June 26, 2022, the County entered into its most recent contract with Dr. Jegge to provide those services in an amount not to exceed $1,239,180.

DISCUSSION:
Under this amendment, Dr. Jegge has agreed to continue to provide general surgery services for an additional three months to allow for additional time to negotiate a new agreement.

County Administrative Memorandum B-1 provides that contracts for physicians are exempt from the Request for Proposals process.

The rates in Dr. Jegge's agreement are within fair market value, according to VMG Health, a nationally recognized medical services valuation firm that relies upon multiple industry-standard provider compensation surveys and aggregates that data.

County Attorney has reviewed and approved the resolution and amendment to the agreement as to form.

The resolution contains the County's standard provisions allowing amendment of the County fiscal obligations by a maximum of $25,000 (in aggregate).
