RECOMMENDATION:
title
Recommendation to continue the Emergency Proclamation relating to damage within the Crystal Springs County Sanitation District as a result of the January and February 2017 storms, which still exists and continues to be an emergency, for an additional period in accordance with Government Code section 8630 and Chapter 2.46 of the San Mateo County Ordinance Code.
body
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
On February 7, 2017, the Board, in accordance with Government Code section 8630 and Chapter 2.46 of the San Mateo County Ordinance Code, ratified action by the Director of Emergency Services proclaiming a local state of emergency. The action was taken after several weeks of severe storms caused a mudslide, damaging a sewage pipe located behind the property at 1560 Seneca Lane, in unincorporated San Mateo County and within the boundaries of the Crystal Springs County Sanitation District.
The Board renewed the emergency proclamation on February 14, February 28, March 14, March 28, April 11, April 25, and May 2, 2017. However, the local emergency still exists and this further renewal of the emergency proclamation is necessary to maintain eligibility for state and federal financial assistance, and will be continued as long as the emergency remains in effect.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Renewal of the proclamation of the local severe weather emergency will continue to facilitate reimbursement of expenses under the California Disaster Assistance Act, as well as additional state or federal reimbursement, for resources expended in response to this event.
