Approve an Appropriation Transfer Request in the amount of $202,199.81 to establish a budget appropriation and record revenue for the California Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) FY 2022-23 Officer Wellness and Mental Health grant.

BACKGROUND:
The FY 2022-23 Officer Wellness and Mental Health grant was established in accordance with Assembly Bill 178 and is available to all city and county law enforcement agencies that employ officers as described in Section 830.1 of the Penal Code.
This grant, awarded by the BSCC, allows law enforcement agencies to improve officer wellness and expand mental health resources. Through officer wellness programs, officers have the opportunity to receive support to improve their physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
DISCUSSION:
The Sheriff’s Office applied for and has been awarded the FY 2022-23 Officer Wellness and Mental Health grant in the amount of $202,199.81, for a period commencing July 1, 2022 through December 1, 2025.
Funding will be utilized to expand officer wellness and peer support units; contract with a licensed mental health professional or counselor who works with law enforcement agencies; and expand multiagency mutual aid programs focused on officer wellness and mental health.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Appropriation Transfer Request accepts unanticipated revenue of $202,199.81 from the BSCC. The term of the grant is from July 1, 2022 through December 1, 2025. There is no Net County Cost.
