RECOMMENDATION:

title

body

BACKGROUND:

In March of 2017, this Board considered Feasibility and Master Plan recommendations for County capital improvements. Direction was given to pursue various capital projects including the County Office Building 3, Medical Center Campus Renovation, Cordilleras Health Facility Renovation, and South San Francisco Wellness Center (North County Wellness Center).

Since that time, Steelcase Inc. has provided furniture planning, procurement, and/or installation through its regional recommended dealer, One Workplace. The County has received Steelcase products on all County projects including the Regional Operations Center, San Mateo Health Campus Project, Navigation Center, and County Office Building 3.

DISCUSSION:

Under this proposed agreement, Steelcase will procure and provide all furnishing, fixtures and equipment plans on behalf of the County of San Mateo, including but not limited to, all necessary and specialized services for high-risk behavioral furnishings.

The selected furniture for the Project Development Unit (PDU) projects will be acquired utilizing pricing and/or discounts established through the Department of General Services Agency Cooperative Agreement program. Cooperative Agreements establish cooperative multi-state contracts where participating states may join together to achieve cost-effective and efficient acquisition of quality products and services. Because of the competitive selection process and/or pursuant to other national, state, or municipal competitive purchasing solicitations that exist, the County of San Mateo can leverage these opportunities for the purchase of furniture, fixtures, and equipment.

Approval of this resolution will enable timely execution of purchase orders for the identified scope of work and provide appropriate County oversight for additional purchase orders for needs identified during execution and space occupation.

The County Attorney has reviewed and approved the resolution as to form.

EQUITY IMPACT:

The cost-effective procurement of furniture, fixtures and equipment through the General Services Agency Cooperative Agreement program supports the County of San Mateo's commitment to advancing equitable procurement practices.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The costs of the furnishing, fixtures, and equipment for the PDU project will be paid from a combination of project appropriations planned in the respective FY 2024-25 capital project budgets.
