BACKGROUND:

The County has conducted an extensive executive search for the position of Parks Director. Hannah Ormshaw has been nominated by the County Executive as the best candidate for this position based on her progressively responsible experience in park operations, management and development.

Ms. Ormshaw began her County career eight years ago in the Parks Department, where she advanced through the ranks to become Assistant Parks Director. In this role, she performed highly responsible work organizing, directing, and evaluating department functions and activities, while also providing leadership in natural resource management and planning.

In addition to her extensive parks and natural resource management experience, Ms. Ormshaw holds a Master of Science degree in Geography from the University of Toronto Mississauga.

Ms. Ormshaw has proven to be a strategic, thoughtful and forward-looking leader who approaches her work with collaboration, creativity, and sound judgment. Ms. Ormshaw is well positioned to lead the long-term stewardship of the County’s natural resources while expanding park access, strengthening community partnerships, advancing sustainability and wildfire mitigation efforts, and enhancing the visitor experience.

The Charter requires the Board of Supervisors to confirm appointments of department heads nominated by the County Executive. Ms. Ormshaw will start her new role on September 28, 2026.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The compensation and benefits for this position are set forth in the County’s Resolution establishing the salary and benefits for the unrepresented Management Employees of the County and the Master Salary Resolution approved by this Board.
