BACKGROUND:

On October 2, 2018, this Board approved Resolution 076192, the Agreement with Corinthian International Parking Services, Inc. (Corinthian), for the assisted stack parking and shuttle services required to support the San Mateo Medical Center Renovation Project. During construction, approximately 200 parking spaces have been displaced, exacerbating an existing parking shortage in the area. To mitigate this displacement, the County secured temporary parking at the County Fair Grounds and engaged Corinthian to provide employee parking and shuttle services.

On April 9, 2019, this Board authorized an amendment, Resolution 076527, to add Corinthian’s parking and shuttle services for the County Office Building 3 (COB3) and Parking Structure 2 (PS2) Projects. During construction, parking at the Government Center was impacted, exacerbating the existing parking shortage. To mitigate this impact, the County secured temporary parking at the Sequoia Station Parking lot and Corinthian provided assisted stack parking services at Parking Structure 1 (PS1) and at the Sequoia Station Parking lot.

On December 8, 2020, this Board authorized an amendment, Resolution 077892, to add Corinthian’s services for the Cordilleras Health System Replacement Project. Due to the project’s construction that had removed the original parking location, off-site parking was made available to the hospital employees to ensure their safe commute.

DISCUSSION:

Corinthian International Parking Services, Inc. has provided exceptional service throughout the duration of their services to the County, including shuttle operations at both the San Mateo Medical Center Renovation Project and Cordilleras Health System Replacement Project, and assisted stack parking at both the San Mateo Medical Center Renovation and Government Center parking garage.

This amendment to the Agreement with Corinthian International Parking Services, Inc. will enable the project teams and clients to maintain the necessary assisted stack parking and shuttle services for the San Mateo Medical Center Renovation Project and the Cordilleras Health System Replacement Project, ensuring safe access and entry to the currently operational buildings through the effective period of August 1, 2024 - July 31, 2025.

The County Attorney’s Office has review and approved the resolution and amendment as to form.

EQUITY STATEMENT:

By organizing parking and transportation efficiently, construction projects can minimize disruptions to local traffic patterns and residential areas, creating an accessible environment for the surrounding community. Shuttle and assisted stack parking solutions also allows for efficient use of limited space, making it possible to accommodate more vehicles without requiring additional land.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The value of the amendment to the Agreement is $445,000. Funding for this agreement is covered by the General Fund and is included in the approved FY2024-25 Recommended Budget.
