Subject: Amendment to the Agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. for the 2021 On-Call Engineering Professional Services

Adopt a resolution authorizing an amendment to the agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., to provide on-call transportation engineering services for various County projects increasing the amount by $500,000 to an amount not-to-exceed $1,300,000 and extending the term through October 18, 2026.

BACKGROUND:
On October 19, 2021, this Board adopted Resolution No. 078497(q), which authorized the Agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. to provide transportation engineering and professional services for various County projects in the amount not-to-exceed $800,000.
DISCUSSION:
Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. has performed on-call transportation services primarily for the Santa Cruz Ave / Alameda de las Pulgas Complete Street Project (Project) as well as other various County projects through Task Orders issued by the Department of Public Works (Department). Additional outreach efforts and complex design issues related to the Project required additional efforts from Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. to analyze and complete the final design. Kimley Horn and Associates, Inc. will be providing the necessary construction support through construction of this Project, which is expected to be completed in Winter of 2025.
The Department has coordinated with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. regarding the requested increase and time extension and is recommending that Amendment No.1 be executed to allow for continued transportation engineering and professional services. Amendment No. 1 increases the not-to-exceed amount of the Agreement by $500,000 and extends the term to October 18, 2026.
County Attorney has reviewed and approved the resolution and amendment as to form.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Amendment will increase the current Agreement amount by $500,000 for a new not-to-exceed amount of $1,300,000. Sufficient funds have been allocated in the Road Fund for this Amendment.
There is no impact to the General Fund.
