Adopt a resolution authorizing an amendment to the Master Salary Resolution 080517 to delete two positions, add two positions, and convert one unclassified position to classified; and accept the updated report of biweekly salaries by classification.

BACKGROUND:

On June 25, 2024, this Board adopted Master Salary Resolution 080517 which specifies the number of and provides compensation and benefits for persons employed by the County of San Mateo, sets appropriate rules and regulations, and repeals all inconsistent ordinances and resolutions. Throughout the year, the salary resolution is amended from time to time to meet the needs of the County.

 

DISCUSSION:

The salary resolution changes herein represent the:

 

                     deletion of two positions;

                     addition of two positions; and

                     conversion of one unclassified position to classified.

 

These amendments to the resolution have been reviewed and approved by the County Attorney’s Office as to form. The specific actions are discussed in detail below.

 

63000 CORRECTIONAL HEALTH SERVICES

 

Action A:                     Delete: Two positions of G107S, Program Counselor Series

Biweekly Salary: $2,866.40 - $3,984.00

 

Add: Two positions of G040S, Mental Health Case Worker Series

                                          Biweekly Salary: $2,680.80 - $4,900.80

 

Explanation: This is the deletion of two vacant Program Counselor II positions and addition of two Mental Health Counselors to better serve and meet client needs in the new Behavioral Unit and Medication Assisted Treatment Program. This action represents an approximate monthly salary and benefits cost of $6,078. There is no change in the total number of authorized positions.

 

Action B:                      Convert: One position of B112S, Mental Health Case Worker-Unclassified Series

                     Biweekly Salary: $2,680.80 - $4,900.80

 

                     To: Classified

                     

Explanation: This is the conversion of one vacant Mental Health Counselor II-Unclassified to Classified to aid in the recruitment efforts of a hard-to-fill position.  There is no monthly salary and benefits cost to this change, and no change in the total number of authorized positions.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

These actions represent an estimated monthly salary and benefits cost of $6,078 or an annual cost estimate of $72,941.
