BACKGROUND:

On June 24, 2025, this Board adopted Master Salary Resolution 081316, which specifies the number of and provides compensation and benefits for persons employed by the County of San Mateo, sets appropriate rules and regulations, and repeals all inconsistent ordinances and resolutions. Throughout the year, the salary resolution is amended from time to time to meet the needs of the County.

 

DISCUSSION:

The salary resolution amendments herein represent the addition of eight positions. These amendments have been reviewed and approved by the County Attorney’s Office as to form. The specific actions are discussed in detail below.

 

25100 DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE

 

Action A:                     Add: One H035, District Attorney’s Inspector

                                          Biweekly: $5,688.80 - $7,112.00

 

Action B:                     Add: One H100, Senior District Attorney’s Inspector

                                          Biweekly: $6,263.20 - $7,830.40

 

Explanation: These are the addition of one District Attorney’s Inspector and one Senior District Attorney’s Inspector positions to provide investigative support to the County’s Human Trafficking Prevention efforts. These actions represent a monthly salary and benefits cost of $56,657. The total number of authorized positions is increased by two.

 

Action C:                     Add: One D088, Program Services Manager II

                                          Biweekly: $5,402.40 - $6,750.40

 

Action D:                     Add: One D182S, Management Analyst Series

                                          Biweekly: $4,031.20 - 5,831.20

 

Action E:                     Add: One E350, Fiscal Office Specialist

                                          Biweekly: $2,728.00 - $3,408.80

 

Explanation: These are the addition of one Program Services Manager II, one Management Analyst and one Fiscal Office Support positions to the County’s Family Justice Center. Program Services Manager II will provide additional leadership and program oversight and the Management Analyst and Fiscal Office Specialist positions will provide administrative and fiscal support. These actions represent a monthly salary and benefits cost of $53,008. The total number of authorized positions is increased by three.

 

30000 SHERIFF’S OFFICE

 

Action A:                     Add: Two H029S, Criminalist Series

                                          Biweekly: $3,988.00 - $6,204.80

 

Explanation: This is the addition of two Criminalist positions to provide support to the Controlled Substances and Forensic Biology DNA (NDS/NCC) Units. This action represents a monthly salary and benefits cost of $41,138. The total number of authorized positions is increased by two.

 

Action B:                     Add: One H060S, Deputy Sheriff Series

                                          Biweekly: $4,590.40 - $5,738.40

 

Explanation: This is the addition of one Deputy Sheriff position to support the County’s Human Trafficking efforts. This action represents a monthly salary and benefits cost of $21,758. The total number of authorized positions is increased by one.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

These actions represent an estimated monthly salary and benefits cost of $172,561 or an annual cost estimate of $2,070,728.
