B)                     Approve an Appropriation Transfer Request (ATR) recognizing unanticipated revenue in the amount of $100,000 for FY 2023-24 intended to support the communications consulting services for The Big Lift Initiative.

BACKGROUND:

In 2012, The Big Lift Initiative launched to boost children’s reading proficiency in San Mateo County by third grade through coordinated, aligned interventions. The Big Lift Program is an initiative that expands preschool access; provides summer programs emphasizing literacy and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) opportunities; reduces chronic absenteeism; and involves parents in their children’s learning by fostering partnerships among schools, families and local community organizations. The Big Lift is a preschool to third grade collective impact initiative led by San Mateo County, San Mateo County Office of Education, and Silicon Valley Community Foundation.

 

DISCUSSION:

The Silicon Valley Community Foundation is providing a grant to support The Big Lift Initiative in the amount of $100,000. The grant funds will be used for marketing, communications, and other related program operational activities to advance the initiative’s mission.

 

The resolution has been reviewed and approved by County Attorney’s Office as to form.

 

FISCAL IMPACT

There is no Net County Cost associated with this item. The ATR will recognize unanticipated revenue in the amount of $100,000 for the FY 2023-24 Adopted Budget.
