BACKGROUND:
On March 29, 2011 this Board adopted Resolution No. 071336 which authorized the Director of Public Works to execute and accept grant agreements with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).

The electrical systems serving the airfield lighting at the Half Moon Bay Airport (Airport) require replacement due to their deterioration, as most of these systems have been in place since the original date of construction of the Airport in 1942. The FAA requires the Airport to maintain its facilities in a safe and serviceable condition. The Half Moon Bay Airport Electrical Vault & Generator Project (Project) includes installing a new diesel-powered generator to supply the airfield lighting systems with power for a minimum of 24 hours, in the event of electrical power outages. Backup power for the airfield lighting systems will improve the Airport's electrical resiliency and usability during power outages on the coast.
